"SWIMMING!!!" All three of the young members of Camp Vector shouted as they ran toward the lake.

"Are you sure the water is...Safe?" Espio asked Vector as the two older Mobians trailed behind.

"According to Manic, there's a Lake Monster in there. But of course, who would believe that?"

Espio shrugged and watched as the children ran out to the edge of the water.

Cream, whom was wearing a yellow and pink one piece swimsuit, had a inflatable dough nut around her waist and Charmy, whom had his usual vest on and some red swim-shorts, had pair of water-wings. Tails, in blue and white shorts, was the only one who didn't need something to help him swim.

While the kids splashed and played in the water, Espio sat near the shore and looked thoughtful while Vector pulled out a pair of sunglasses and laid back on the sand.

"This is the life." He sighed.



"Mr Vector...Mr Vector?" The sleepy crocodile heard Cream's voice sometime later.

"What?" He mumbled as he awoke from his unintentional nap.

"It's lunch time and we're awfully hungry." The small rabbit said.

"Hmm? Oh, sure." Vector removed his sunglasses and sat up.

"OWCH!" He yelled.

"What's wrong?" The kids asked.

"My skin. Ah man, I got sunburned. As if poison ivy wasn't bad enough..."

"That was your own fault." Tails mumbled.

"Didn't you put on sunblock?" Charmy asked.

"Ummm..." Vector thought back to earlier in the morning.

"I believe you said it was 'for fair skinned sissies'." Espio spoke for the first time in the conversation.

"Why would you say that?" Asked Cream in all innocence.

"Because he's a sissy!" Charmy shrieked in delight at yet another chance to insult his boss without penalty.

"Quite down-OW" Vector stopped to exclaim as he got up, "-all of you!"

"I haven't said hardly anything." Tails stated.

"Good! Then I'll make you some sort of award!" Vector said sarcastically.

Charmy, got a bright idea and flew to a near by tree and grabbed a leaf.

"For quietness of the utmost." The bee started at Tails. "I award you this 'Shut Up'  Award from Camp Vector!"

Tails took the leaf with mock pride and Cream burst into giggles.

"Wait until I tell Mommy!"

"No!" The crocodile exclaimed.

"Thank you for this most prestigious award!" Tails started his joke speech.

Vector looked was frozen with horror, thinking of the tale being retold to Vanilla. Charmy and Cream stood smiling and giggling. Espio stood smirking in silence, it was obvious he found the whole ordeal highly amusing.

"I would like to thank all the little people, those shorter than me." Tails continued.

"That's us!" Cream and Charmy said.

"And my camp counselor, Vector. For being the most noise hating counselor ever. Thank you, Vector, for being as mean as you are."

"All right! That's enough!" Vector started off rudely, then remembered what these kids where starting to think of him as it was. "I mean, yes Tails, that was very funny. Now let's go eat some lunch."


The five arrived back at the campsite sometime later.

"No one's here." Tails said.

"State the obvious." Charmy rolled his eyes.

"You pick that up from Sonia?" Tails smirked.

"Enough!" Vector said, more kindly than usual. Before things got out of hand.

"I thought Miss Tikal and Mr Shadow where going to stay here..." Cream wondered aloud.

"Most likely they went on a walk or something." Tails said.

"Or, maybe they left. Went back home." Espio suggested.

"Why would they? Besides, neither of them really have a home." Vector added.

"They don't?" Cream's gentle heart was obviously disturbed by this.

"Well, Shadow is...A wanderer." Vector began. "He goes from place to place. Because he wants too. He doesn't like to be in the same place for too long."

"Miss Tikal doesn't act like a wandered. That is, if they're all like Mr Shadow does."

"That's because it isn't really her choice, Cream."

"Then why does she do it?" Charmy pipped up. He seemed interested in something besides teasing others for once.

"We can't always chose what life gives us, kids, just what we do with what we have."
