Epilogue

"This was the best trip ever!" Charmy yelled as he ran in circles that night.

The moon was shinning bright in the sky. All seemed right with the world as a close came to their four day trip.

"I thought you said it was a lame trip." Vector teased Charmy.

"It was. UNTIL WE TOTTALY GOT YOU GUYS!" The bee shouted again, pointing at four certain people at the last part.

"You just wait until next time." Sonic smirked.

"Yeah right!" Charmy stuck out his tongue.

"This really WAS a lot of fun." Tails agreed, as he prepared a s'more with a slightly burnt marshmallow.

"I'm going to ask mommy if I can come again next year." Cream said as she wiped  marshmallow goo from her face.

"I'm glad to hear that, Cream." Vector patted the young bunny on the head.

"I expect a raise next year, you know." Espio spoke up from his seat on a log on the opposite side of the campfire.

While Vector and Espio argued over that, the four monster hunters morned their fruit-less mission.

"I can't believe we didn't see ANYTHING." Clipsy hung her head in an ashamed manner.

"Not even a footprint." Amy sighed and munched on a chocolate bar.

"There's always next year." Sonic tried to comfort them.

"What makes you think THAT'S going to change anything?" Manic poked the roaring campfire with a stick he had picked up.

"You never know."

"You put all the equipment up yet? We're leaving first thing in the morning." Amy asked.

"Eh. It's almost done." The green hedgehog frowned.

"I'll go finish up." Clipsy jumped up and walked over to where Manic had almost finished packing things into the back of her car.

As she picked up one of the automatic digital cameras, it came on by mistake.

"Oops..." She said to herself as it turned on to show a picture it had taken on its' own.

She was about to turn it off, when she got a closer look at the picture.

"GUYS! GET OVER HERE!" She shouted.

Sonic, Amy and Manic came running.

"What? What?"

"Look!"

Everyone gasped at the sight of the picture.

"Th-his was taken AFTER Vector scared us."

"Maybe this wasn't so use-less after all." Sonic smiled.

They all celebrated with another can of soda at the discovery.

At the very corner of the picture, was a blob of brown fur.

It could have been anything, but it was all four disappointed teenagers needed to make it all worth it.



"What are they so hyped about?"

"Who knows, Knucklehead." Rouge smiled at the last part.

Sonia was sitting across the campfire from those two. Wondering why Rouge was saying that nicely, and why on EARTH Knuckles was letting her sit so close to him without getting upset.

Of course, she was also wondering why, after a short five hour conversation, Mindy had suddenly hung up on her.



Someways off, Shadow and Tikal sat on the grassy edge of the campsite, looking out over the moonlit lake.

"Isn't it funny? They never even knew we where gone." Tikal said.

"Amusing, would be the correct word." Shadow's emotionless expression dominated his face.

A cold wind blew through the woods. It was a chilly night, but a memorable one.

Tikal jumped a little as she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned and blushed as she stole a quick glance at Shadow.

"You, erm, looked cold." He explained.



The next morning went relatively smooth. They all packed up and where on their way home somewhat early in the morning.

The only reason they didn't leave even EARLIER was because it took a bit of work to drag Manic away. He was quite convinced if he "just stayed one more day" Bigfoot would be "his."

All in all, everyone agreed this trip had had ups and downs.

Though it had most certainly ended on an up.
