That night Charmy tossed and turned in his bed. He couldn't sleep and he felt like his eyes where being held open with tape or super glue.

His mind raced a million ways as he rolled over again and looked out the window and saw the lights of Station Square. Street lights and neon signs shone through the glass. Usually, these signs of home would comfort the bee, but tonight he couldn't stop thinking of the things he'd done.

It wasn't like he'd done anything that bad, but he had tried to ruin the relationship of two of his best friends ever. Could things ever feel the same again? Why had he been so cruel. Deep down, Charmy knew that it wasn't really Tails and Cream he'd  wronged so much.

It was Zaravin.

What had she done to ever deserve what he'd done to her? He'd purely used her to try to get Cream. No girl should have that happen.

Zaravin's bright smiles and laughs flashed through his mind. He couldn't even remember why he'd always thought Cream was so much better anyway. It also took a lot to admit another hard thing.

Unlike Cream, Zaravin cared.

Not that Cream didn't care in a friendship way, but Zara had made it clear she cared more than that.

If he could feel the same about Zaravin as he had about Cream, if not more so, why was he still trying to ruin his friends' happiness and his own friendship with Tails?

It had to end. Charmy made up his mind and finally forced himself to close his eyes as he realized there was nothing he could do about it now. Though, come first thing in the morning, he was going to take action.


"Charmy, would you get up already? Vector's going to be here for work any minute and if he finds out you're still sleeping and taking the evening off he's not gonna be happy." Espio called.

The teenage bee moaned as he sat up in his bed. Looking at the clock he cringed. 10:27 AM. He'd slept in after not falling asleep for so long the night before.

He was running extremely late already. There was so much to be done and barely enough time to do it.

A few minutes later Charmy stumbled into the office room of Chaotix, still combing his messy black hair with one hand as he unwrinkled his shirt with the other.

"Nice to see you finally moving." Espio said calmly.

"Espio, I NEED to go! Could you please, please, PLEASE cover for me?" The bee begged.

"What could be that important?" The ninja nonchalantly sipped at a mug of coffee.

"Undoing the biggest mistake I've ever made." Charmy said, and before Espio could stop him he ran out the front door.



Charmy knocked rapidly on the door to Zaravin's apartment.

"Charmy?" She questioned as she answered it and stepped into the hallway. "What are you doing here? The dance isn't until 7:00 and I'm afraid my parents are gone so I'm not allowed to let you in now."

"Zara, I've made BIG mistake and I need your help to fix it." The bee was hyper and speaking quickly.

"Calm down. Nothing could be that bad. Let's go down to the lobby and talk about it."

As much as Charmy didn't like the idea of any random stranger in the lobby hearing about this, he followed her down stairs to the posh sitting room.

Luckily, no one else was down there except the front desk worker, whom was wearing headphones that Charmy guessed where turned up rather loudly.

"Now," Zaravin said as she sat down in large chair across from Charmy, "what is it that was so important?"

Charmy opened his mouth, ready to spill everything and explain his peril. Then, he realized he didn't know where to start.

"What's the matter?' She asked, seeing the strange expression on his face.

"I-I don't know where to start."

"Just start as far back as you need, I've got until my parents get home this evening. They ARE cutting it a little close to the dance, but oh well."

"I guess this whole mess started about ten years ago..."


They two lost track of time in the lobby, Zaravin's face changed from laughing, to tearful, to almost angry as Charmy told her every detail of the escapade involving Tails and Cream.

"So you see, now I need your help because I need to get into the rec center and get the goo balloons out. You're the only person I know who might have a spare key until your parents get back. Please Zara, I need your help."

Zaravin stared at him blankly. Her brain seemed to block out the last part. Her mind was spinning possibly faster than Charmy's had been the night before.

"H-how could you?" She half cried as she stood up quickly, almost knocking over her chair.

"I'm sorry, if I'd known you-" Charmy started as he stood up too.

"You just would have done it to some other poor girl!" She screamed. Tears streamed down her face.

"I know. Now I know and I'll never do ANYTHING like this again." He took her hand, but she jerked away.

"Charmy Bee! You are the biggest loser and jerk I've ever met!" Zaravin reacted and slapped him straight across the face.

Charmy put his hand to the his face. It hurt worse than you'd expect from a usually calm girl like Zaravin.

"I won't get upset," he said, "Because I deserved that."

"Darn right you do!" She reached out like she was going to slap him again, but he grabbed her wrist in mid air.

"That doesn't mean you can do it again!"

"Let me go!" She snapped.

Charmy loosened his grip and the butterfly pulled away. She scowled at him and ran out the door of the building.

"Wait!" He called and he ran after her, but by the time he got outside there was no sign of her.

What had he done?
